Ras Mohammed National Park

posted by Keir on 23 March 2007 at 16:25

Ras Mohammed national park is located in the Gulf of Aqaba on the Red Sea, you can visit by land or water from Sharm el Sheikh. A return cab cost about £20, which was a bargain considering it was about an hour each way! There are many beaches to chose from, from the main beach you swim out in over a very shallow shelf from the bay and then the reef just drops away into oblivion, it's breathtaking. Manta rays and sharks inhabit the area along with the more common reef dwellers; conga eels, surgeon fish, hatchet fish, puffer fish, etc. all in large numbers with the grand backdrop of a reef falling away as far as the eye can see. A must for both hardcore and casual divers!
