We took a couple of day trips out to this amazing island as we could just go snorkelling off the coast and see all sorts of wonderful fish, which is perfect when you have the kids in tow.

My husband arranged for us to go on a boat trip to this national park which is simply stunning. There was great food and we stopped for snorkelling/swimming. A really memorable day, it's all too easy to just stick to the same routine on holiday but this really did make my trip.

I just love it in Sharm, i just got back from 2 weeks there and can't wait to go again, just swimming in the sea with my snorkel on looking at the fish and the reefs, beautiful. I've never got into scuba, seems like too much effort, but snorkelling in sharm is so rewarding.

Ras Mohammed is a national park which is located on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula approx. 30km from Sharm El Sheikh. You can either visit Ras Mohamed by road or by sea. We chose to take a boat trip along the coast line and snorkelling in three different areas. We saw the most amazing fish and swam with a shark! I recommend you take some shoes for walking along the rocks to get to the reef can be painful. Bear in mind that you will have to buy a visa on entry to Sharm if you plan on visiting the National Park. Entrance fee is approximately 5 Egyptian Pounds.

Ras Mohammed national park is located in the Gulf of Aqaba on the Red Sea, you can visit by land or water from Sharm el Sheikh. A return cab cost about £20, which was a bargain considering it was about an hour each way! There are many beaches to chose from, from the main beach you swim out in over a very shallow shelf from the bay and then the reef just drops away into oblivion, it's breathtaking. Manta rays and sharks inhabit the area along with the more common reef dwellers; conga eels, surgeon fish, hatchet fish, puffer fish, etc. all in large numbers with the grand backdrop of a reef falling away as far as the eye can see. A must for both hardcore and casual divers!
