extremely budget hotels

On an economy drive at the end of a long trip around Africa, we decided to stay at one of Cairo's numerous budget hostels, that are grouped around the edge of the Islamic Quarter. You pay about a pound a night to stay here and shouldn't expect any comfort or luxury. I really enjoyed staying there though as it was a really great place to meet fellow backpackers with interesting tales to tell.

Karina Hotel

We stayed in Benitses at the Karina Hotel - about 10minutes walk away. Accommodation is basic but adequate and there is a pool.

Babbity Bowser

Babbity Bowster has a continental feel and is perfect for a quiet daytime drink, particularly in the adjoining beer garden. There is also affordable and basic accomodation. The interior has a classy vibe, and there is music on Saturday night, usually of the folky-fiddler variety.

Hotel Titus

On out last trip to amsterdam we stayed in this hotel. It's small and pretty basic but the staff were great, the breakfast was good and it was in a quiet location but really near to all the main sights.

Flamingo Country Club

A fantastic self-catering holiday resort close to golf overlooking the Aegean Sea. This resort is excellent - 17 pools, golf, sauna, tennis, beach club and more. Quiet location but don't be put off - the accommodation is ace! The new beach club is great - right next to a new resort Royal Heights. Top value for money!

Flamingo Country Club is just off the D330 main highway from Milas to Bodrum Town. Its only about 15mins drive from the airport.
