At dealchecker.co.uk it's not just about finding great travel deals, it's also about finding fantastic travel destinations and things to do and see when you get there.
Who better to ask than travellers just like yourself.
It's really simple to win £500, just tell us favourite places you've discovered on your holidays. It can be a fantastic restaurant you found in Greece or a jazz bar that blew you away in Manhattan, we don't mind, just as long as you think others might like it too. Read more...

Beautiful town to the east of Faro (most of the tourist resorts are to the west - this is much more authentic). It has lovely architecture and restaurants that are cheaper (but every bit as good) than to the west.

Drive for about 30-40 minutes east (towards Spain!) from Faro.

The Atomium is one of the most unusual buildings I have ever seen. It's a 100+ metre tall model of an iron crystal. Each 'iron atom' is a room and the 'bonds' contain escalators and stairs so you can travel between them, and enjoy the views. For novelty value this building gets 10 out of 10! When I visited it was being renovated but I believe the original contents of the museum are back in place now.

Very unusual apartment block designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser; organic feel with uneven floors, unusually tiled walls terraces with trees growing in them on various levels of the building, grass on the roof walls and pillars all very colourful and crazy looking. There's a museum there so yo ucan go inside and get a feel for it and buy yourself a souvenir. There are now 3 appartment block in the area of the same style, all are worth a look. A must see if visiting Vienna!

An ancient fortress on the hills above the city. The Moorish architecture in the Caza Real is absolutely stunning and the intricate detail on every surface is awe-inspiring. You can get lost in the Generalife gardens, although when I went in August it was impossible not to be surrounded by people. The mix of architecture, from the Caza Real to the Charles V Palace, then to the oldest building of the complex, the Alcazaba castle; tells a story so some background reading would enhance your visit and understanding. You have to book the day before you arrive, in fact we booked a few months before we went on holiday just to be sure.

The Fighting Cocks claim to faim is that it's one of the oldest pubs in Britain and currently holds the official Guinness Book of Records title. I't s very popular serving delicious tradition English grub and good ales and wines. Mind the ceiling though, at 5ft it was no bother for me, but those of a taller stature will have to bend down. Beer garden out the back, kid and (last time I was there) dog friendly.
