I know it's obvious but Guernica absolutely blew my mind. Loved it. There was other stuff that was great too, notably Miro, but the Picasso masterpiece was the best of all.

The gardens here are a little oasis of quiet and shade right in the centre so head here if you feel like the crowds and pounding the pavement are getting you down. You can even indulge in a little sightseeing once you have recuperated with a visit to the Museo Carlo Bilotti, a comntemporary art museum housed in the Orangery.

This is just a crazy and cool place. Would totally recommend booking on a tour (by telephone in advance) as we learned so much about who set up the library and art gallery, why, the building, and we even heard about a book bound in human skin they have there!! Thankfully we couldn't see it!

Everyone thinks of the Prado when they think of Madrid, and for a very good reason! It's simply magnificent, the collection and the buildings are superb. Definitely one of the best galleries i've ever been to.
