My girlfriend and I really loved it here, the variety of the mediums used as well as the projects themselves was great, and really inspiring. I loved the performance-space type ones the best as I normally do because being immersed in soemone's off-beat idea is generally good fun!

This is the longest stretch of the Berlin wall left standing and stretches out for about a mile from the Ostbahnhof. It's covered with graffiti that was painted on it subsequent to the rest of the wall coming down and is an inspiring monument to freedom and democracy. You can buy chunks of the wall in the shop here as well as get your passport stamped with the stamps of the old GDR.

This is the most spectacular collection of Museums on a single site anywhere in Europe. If you don't have time to see them all, make sure you hit the Pergamon Museum which is the site where the majority of the Pergamon Temple from Turkey has ended up as well as one of the Gates of Babylon! The Scale of the theft is quite incredible, but to give it credit, it is a beautifully kept and curated museum and its highly unlikely that it's treasures would look nearly so good had they not been relocated here.

Along with the Museum of Modern Art, the Dean Gallery is located on a green site north of the Waters of Leith. On a summer day, the walk along the canal to the gallery is lovely. The gallery hosts visiting exhibitions which are, generally speaking, best around the time of the festival. There is also a massive statue by Paolozzi here and in the MOMA, you can see a fantastic recreation of the artist's studio.

Right by the Ben Merdersa is this former girls school now a small museum of jewellery and artwork. The collections are good but it's the building that really makes the experience for me, it's fabulous.
