This museum- the museum of fine arts is spread over two buildings linked by an underground passage. It's got a really good collection of Modern European art with works by artists such as Picasso and Rodin. There's also a really good exhibit about Napoleon.

This building was constructed to comemorate the seccession movement of artists moving away from the Vienna Accademy. Its a really beautiful building with ornate carvings and relief work running round the walls. Its most recognisable by its ornate golden dome. Its quite overpriced to get in, and the only thing really worth seeing is the Beethoven frieze by Klimt in the basement. That said, it is an incredible and completely iconic piece.

We chose not to go to the Museum of foreign art and instead went to the National art gallery which houses the indigenous collection of art with works from the renaissance to the modern day housed in an ornate former palace building. The museum is well curated with plenty of information in English.

The Warsaw museum was built in the mid nineteenth century but like much else in Warswa was heavily damaged in the war and later reconstructed. It's still an attractive building and has a good collection of European art and a very good collection of Polish art throughout history.

This is the castle where the Polish monarchs lived and ruled from between the 11th and 17th century. It is perched above the city and is a highlight of Krakow. There are some great views of the city from the castle. Inside, you'll see a fine collection of tapestries and wooden carvings. The armoury is worth a visit as is the fire breathing dragon!
