Discreet, cool, chill out bar in former antiques shop with antique furniture and decor left in situ. How drinking in Hong Kong used to be during colonial times!! Get here early as can get busy - oh and watch out for the strawberry daiquiris.

Lucky Voice Karaoke

The best karaoke in town! It's not like traditional karaoke where you stand on a an stage and everyone laughs at you, it's much more fun. You are in a private booth with your mates, everybody sings at the same time and best of all, you press a little button and someone comes and takes your drink order. Brilliant!

Ye Olde Fighting Cocks

posted by lilith on 8 January 2007 at 12:54

The Fighting Cocks claim to faim is that it's one of the oldest pubs in Britain and currently holds the official Guinness Book of Records title. I't s very popular serving delicious tradition English grub and good ales and wines. Mind the ceiling though, at 5ft it was no bother for me, but those of a taller stature will have to bend down. Beer garden out the back, kid and (last time I was there) dog friendly.

Cookie (Previously known as KooKoo)

posted by lilith on 8 January 2007 at 11:56

Going upa dark wood staircase, the lofty, cool bar space and restaurant makes for a dramatic affect. Selling affordable thai cooking and amazing cocktails (Order the toblerone), this place is a pmust for visitors to Melbourne. It does get rowdy from about 6pm with after work revelers packing the place out every evening, but the balcony overlooking busy Swanston Street is perfect for dining couples, especially in summer. Whether for a quick drink with mates, celebration or a sit down dinner, Cookie is a must to visit.
