Jeronimos Monastery

Jeronimos Monastery, located in the Belem district of Lisbon is now being declared as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. It is one of the top 10 tourists place of Lisbon. This Monastery was being built by King Manuel I in 1502. In commemoration of Vasco Da Gama's voyage and to give thanks to the Virgin Mary for its success this Monastry was being built. It is one of the most prominenet monument in Lisbon. Vasco da gama & other great figures of Portuguese are entombed here.
