You don't have to pay to climb the bridge to enjoy the views, you can just walk along the pedestrian path that runs alongside the road, and it's well worth doing. Great views, and all for free!

So romantic, my boyfriend and I took a stroll here and around the area on a couple of nights on our holiday and they were so memorable, the overriding memory of my holiday.

This bridge across the Amstel river is a feat of engineering, such an elegant and beautiful bridge, I love it. And it gets lit up so prettily at night it's a romantic spot as well.

Paris is full of lovely things but this bridge is one of my favourites, not only does it connect my favourite places, the Hotel des Invalides and the Grand and Petit Palaces but it's so wide and beautifully decorated that it's a pleasure to go to.

This beautiful historic bridge shows both the ravages of time and its resilience to the trials of Berlin over the last century. Today, its steel mid-section tells the tale of of intentional bombing to cut off the crossing but that cannot detract from the majesty of the bridge. You can cross by car or by u-bahn as there are two levels.

Out to the east of Berlin, since this was an old crossing from west to east, use u-bahn warschauer strasse or schlesisches tor if you want to go across
