Faro is so picture perfect, a real Algarve town with whitewashed buildings and pretty streets. We had a lovely low key holiday here strolling around and indulging at the cafes and restaurants.

Piazza del Campidoglio

What a square! You climb up (a lot of) steps not quite knowing what you'll find and then there you are, surrounded by some fantastic buildings in an amazing hilltop square. Beautiful.

where, when, how, web
Capitol Hill, the steps are off Via del Teatro Marcello

Sheung Wan Area

This was the closest I came to feeling like I saw the real culture of HK underneath the glossy high-rise facade. Yes, that does come with lots of shark's fins (ick), but the buildings and the feel of the place are a little different.

where, when, how, web
MTR to Sheung Wan then head to the West Market

Walk to the Sea

posted by froadman on 23 December 2010 at 17:08

I happened to be in Boston for half a day and thought it not quite long enough for the Freedom Trail, but I really enjoyed the Walk To The Sea, from the State House, Beacon Hill to the sea. Amazing to see the span of history in this short distance, really rewarding.

where, when, how, web
I downloaded a map before I left and followed it from the start at Beacon Hill, which was really easy to get to on public transport

Stromovka Park

posted by hsanders on 22 December 2010 at 13:08

We decided to escape the hustle and bustle of the city centre by heading here for the day. The park is so pretty, and there's lots to explore with follys and other old buildings. Nearby too are the planetarium and the exhibition centre (vystaviste) which are amusing places to visit if the weather gets a bit inclement.

where, when, how, web
Further north than most of the other attractions, train praha bubenec or tram vystaviste
