Such a charming place! I love the history, the pilgrims, the beauty of the interior, it's my favourite place to come for some reflection away from my normally hectic schedule when i'm in wonderful Paris!

Now I wasn't really sure about going in here and I have to say that if you don't like the thought of it then don't go in! I sort-of-wish I hadn't, although my curiosity made me do it.

What a room! The vatican museums are great all round but the sistene chapel is most definitely the highlight, the ceiling, the last judgment, I really could have sat for hours and hours just finding new things, it's quite busy though.

Nearby in Pyrga is a delightful tiny little church. The walls are decorated with beautiful french frescoes. We stopped by on the way back from the Stavrovouni Monastery, and it totally eclipsed the much larger site.

Known in the past as The Island Of The Dead because Napoleon used it as a graveyard, half is still cemetery today where plenty of famous people have been buried, such as Stravinsky. Elswehere there is a monastery and the lovely Emiliana Chapel, so nice to explore some of the other islands!
