I love the old town in Faro and the gold leaf of the church makes for a beautiful spot to stop. Don't go inside though if you don't like bones as there is a bone chapel here and when I say bones, I mean a lot of bones.

This wonderfully spiky church is pretty imposing and there's so much to see it's incredible. Ornate is the word, with Gothic influences outside and Baroque ones inside. Look out for Tycho Brahe's grave, the altar and two blocked-off windows on the southern wall, where once Franz Kafka looked in as a child from his house!

A very very impressive building! The dome is a feat of engineering and the rest isn't much less spectacular! You have to go on a guided tour and we could only get one in Spanish but that really just meant we could spend ages gawping!

You can almost touch the history here with loads of old things to look at as part of the structure that is there today. Don't miss the amazing stained glass windows or the four pillars by the holy table which date back to the 12th century.

We stumbled upon this by accident! It's a wooden church that looks totally crazy! We had to go back to our hotel to look it up online and found that it was built in the Ukraine and then moved to Prague centuries after!!
