A fasctinating journey through the lineage of coins etc. We just finished watching the old BBC series 'Connections' and armed with that knowledge it was amazing to see all the coins and things.

Fascinating place, so much to see, and a marvellous building too! They don't just make coins here but medals, weights and gold bars too! Such a privilege to be able to see these things, I don't think i've ever heard of anyone going to the Royal Mint!

I'll admit that I threw my coin in and hoped to come back. Such a grand fountain and a really lovely buzz in the area in the evening, which was preferable to the day as the tourists had somewhat abated.

Most older cities have museums which commemorate the archaeology of the city or area, and Naples is no different. The National Archaeological Museum is located in a building that dates back to the mid 1500s and was originally a stable. It then became a school and has been renovated and added on to over the years until its present day use as a museum. This museum houses one of the most important collections of antiquities in the world and includes treasures from Greco-Roman history. The museum holds statuary, documents, coins, glass, books, paintings and reproductions and recreations of historical structures. If you are interested in finding out more about Naples while you are visiting the city, then this museum is a must-see. It allows you to appreciate the rest of Naples, since you will get a solid and comprehensive history from all of the exhibits and displays. Although some of the displays are very academic, youngsters will be able to learn a lot, as long as the parents provide some interpretation. Definitely plan a visit here!
