Rome Zoo was a bit of a state a few years back, and although the setting was pretty the animals seemed sad and thin on the grounds. Now a conservation champion, it's much better and a really good day out for the family.

What an excellent aquarium! I loved the emphasis on conservation and my kids learned some bit about it without noticing really which is always nice! Great variety and the penguins were a hit as ever. The giant ocean tank was my favourite and I would still be there now i think if i'd got my way!

Lagos is a crazy city, vibrant and busy. the last time I went there I was searching for something a little bit more peaceful to do when I heard about the Lekki Conservation Park. Situated on the peninsula it is a delicate ecosystem environment and a wonderful place to spot animals such as monkeys and crocodiles, not to mention all the fauna and bird life.

Opened in 1998, the Oceanario is what many people would call an acquarium. It is one of the best aquatic exhibits around and provides a connection between Lisbon and the oceans. The permanent exhibits are fascinating and there are a number of rotating exhibits (check the schedule before your visit). This is a place to take the family to learn about conservation and preservation. The Oceanario is open every day, including special hours on Christmas and New Years.
