Food

The highlight for me on my holiday in Madrid was the food! We never ate a bad meal and tried all sorts from local dishes and delicacies to moroccan and moorish inspired things too. If you're a foodie then then is a great place to go for a real mix of culture and tastings!

I'd never seen or tried this fruit before my holiday in Corfu and now i'm totally hooked! I ate so many, preserved in syrup or made into liquor at the distillery! I even brought some back with me....yay!

Baklava

So, not an attraction in itself but it's waht I get most excited about when I'm going to Turkey. These tiny sweet pastries really make my holiday and I probably ate my bodyweight in them during my last trip there!

where, when, how, web
Found lots of places, look for authentic turkish places for the best ones, and try an assortment to see which you like the best!

Lagos Fish Market

posted by hhawker on 12 January 2011 at 10:47

For me, one of the true treats of being on holiday is the local food, especially the fish on beach holidays. The market has an excellent selection, and we ate several good home-cooked meals in our self-catering accommodation fuelled by the finds from this place. I wish I had one round the corner from here..

where, when, how, web
On the waterfront between the post office and the marina, look out for the swirly sculpture thing on the round about and you're almost there!!

Olive Harvest

posted by chincken on 8 December 2010 at 11:03

I just got back from Crete and was lucky enough to catch the start of the olive harvest. They have been growing olives since 3500BC and it's clear they know a thing or two! The oils are the best i've ever tasted and I wish I could have brought more back with me.

where, when, how, web
All over, harvest from November to February
