Organ Concert

We went to the sunday afternoon organ concert at Eglise St Sulpice and it was delightful. We could look at all the lovely frescoes and hear the beautiful notes of the huge organ.

St Solomi Church

This former christian catacomb has some pretty wonderful frescoes. You'll know it by the tree outside with hungreds of objects hanging on it, set there by people whishing for their disease or ailment to be cured, as apparently the tree has magical powers.

Celio Hill

I wanted to get off the tourist circuit on my holiday in Rome, so my hubby and me headed for this hill. We saw the amazing paintings of the houses that stood here (and still do, just underground), and had a relaxing lunch in the stunning Villa Celimontana gardens.

Santiago Church

Whilst the Cathedral gets all the plaudits here, my favourite was the Santiago Church. I love the Mudejar style exterior and the interior too is very exciting. Watch out especially for the frescoes and the sculptures.

Catacombs

Look for the festonned pistachio tree, and there you will find the amazing sight of the catacombs, older than the roman walls! You can see they have had different uses over the years and the frescoes and graffiti really tell a tale.
