This won't exactly take up all of your time, but it's the thing that stuck most in my head from all the great things I saw in Prague on my holiday there. It's a testament to the ideals of peace and love, as well as the power of youth. Fights broke out over it under the communist regime and it's still barely tolerated by the government, with regular painting-over, but the graffiti still comes back.

This was our one stop-shop for cretan history and it was interesting, and just small enough that you can see it all and still be interested at the end!

The grand triumphal arch at the end of Camereio square is a really impressive sit which dominates the square. It commemorates the rebuilding of Lisbon after the tragic earthquake of 1755 when a large part of the city was destroyed. It is decorated with sculptures of great figures from Portuguese history and from the rebuilding of the city.

Located in the Belem district at the mouth of the River Targus, this is a really wonderful fortified tower with some severe castellated elements, pointed windows and other Moorish elements. The tower is a Unesco world herritage site and a fairly uniquely fantastical piece of architecture.

The Padrao dos Descobrimentos is a monument to the great explorers of Portugal who chartered new corners of the world. It's an amazing sight and well worth seeing, as it's made in the shape of a ship with Henry the Navigator standing at the helm of the ship. Behind him are other great explorers including Vasco da Gama. All this is carved out of stone. Really incredible.
