Head here in Syntagma Square to see the changing of the guard! It's a touristy thing to do but I really enjoy seeing these relics of the past played out today!

What a wonderful and sad place. The memorial is very thought provoking, and I really appreciate the way that genocide in all its forms is also covered. Not great for young kids. Book in advance, tickets are free.

I've seen the National Mall so may times on TV it was a little surreal being here, but this was the highlight. Designed as 4 outdoor rooms, the memorial has a lovely feel and is beautiful to look at.

Consisting of a huge memorial wall and 19 statues of troops, this is a haunting and powerful memorial and remains my most vivid enduring memory from my trip to Washington.
