When I recently took a Mediterranean Cruise that stopped at Crete, I decided to go off exploring on my own and ended up at the Historical Museum of Crete. It was fascinating seeing all these artifacts associated with Crete’s history, some of which dating back to the Byzantine period. It was a great way to learn about the island, its history, its people, and its culture.

This museum takes you on a guided tour of Berlin from the earliest days, through the rise of Hitler, the wall and even a huge bomb shelter. It is sobering and eye opening. Very interesting glimpse into the past.

This is the kind of place that everyone is interested in something different. You go at your own pace which is nice because some of the exhibits are so outlandish you want to get on to the next thing. It is a strange tilted building and inside you find plenty of oddities. It's fun for tweens and up.

The Hunterian Museum has been around since 1807 and currently holds over 1 million weird and wonderful objects connected to art, history and science. It is a great day out if you are in the city, and better yet - admission is free! I recommend visiting this museum, it is a great value afternoon out.

After we got tired of the beach at Brighton on a recent holiday, my family decided to go to the Booth Museum of Natural History, as it was a great way to cool off. There were tons of great exhibits from across the globe, and interactive exhibits that the kids loved.
