These museums (linked underground under the Campodoglio Square) contain so many wonders of rome that my husband and I had to go back a second day to appreciate them all, since we only got there in the afternoon on the first day. It's well worth taking your time over.

Castel Sant'Angelo

A lovely and extraordinary building, I loved the round plan. The papal apartments were really swish and I couldn't help but try to find where I thought the secret passageway to the Vatican might start! Really interesting place.

State Alexander Pushkin Museum

Being a fan of the poet, this was just fabulous. I can't believe how much he wrote and all the relics that people have sent in to add to the collection. Probably only want to stay an hour or so if you're not a big fan but well worth it as the building is interesting too.
