Snoqualime Falls

posted by qpowers on 2 November 2010 at 17:18

The Snoqualime Falls are located about thirty miles outside Seattle. Frustratingly, there isn't a bus that does this route but if you've got a car, be sure to make the journey. The Falls are higher than Niagra and there is no charge to see them. It's also relatively easy to get to the falls, with one of the viewing platforms near to the car park. You can also walk down to see the falls from lower down.

Shiofunne Kannon Temple

posted by lboyd on 2 November 2010 at 14:50

If you happen to be in Tokyo in late spring, you have to make the hour long journey to Cho Ome to see the Shiofunne Kannon Temple, here you'll find the azaeleas in blossom across the vast hillside. An enormous statue of Buddha stands in the middle of the hillside looking out over the beautiful display of bright red flowers. It's a really magnificent sight to see.

Table Mountain Climbing

posted by wguess on 2 November 2010 at 14:02

There are apparently 350 different routes to the top of Table Mountain ranging between the relatively sedate and the utterly perilous. We took one of the former and it took about 3 and a half hours to get to the top. The views and sense of self satisfaction made the ordeal worthwhile.

Grampians National Park

posted by fcasteel on 2 November 2010 at 13:41

The Grampians National Park was regretably devastated by forest fires in 2006. However, the work done recently to restore the park to its former glory has really payed off and people are starting to flock back. There are some great tours available to take you trecking around the park. Some highlights of any visit are the incredible 'jaws of death' rock formation and the stunning MacKenzie Falls.
