Ria Formosa

If you want to get away from town life then the nature park is the perfect antidote. It's beautiful and our tour on the nature park cruise was really memorable.

Ria Formosa

My boyfriend treated me to a short break in Faro and the highlight was the cruise around the Ria Formosa. The scenery was absolutely stunning, loads of birds and plenty to see, so interesting too. A real treat, it's great to have the wind in your hair and the sun on your face.

This huge nature reserve on the edge of the city is home to myth and legend (as a local to tell you this tale!) There is plenty to do - enough to keep you occupied for a couple of days out of this city. Activities on offer include hiking, biking, swimming (although I wouldnt want to swim in the winter as it is freezing!). Admission is reasonable all year round.

This is a nice place to get away from the city for a few hours. It is close in and yet you feel you are worlds away. It is great for a bike ride or long walk and a picnic.

Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve

posted by DVC_Chris on 26 May 2009 at 12:58

While the city of Cape Town has many historical sites worthy of visit, one afternoon I decided that I wanted to see some of the local wild life, which is why I went to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Not only did I get to see local plants and animals, which while interesting, was not the highlight of my trip. Instead it was going to the actual Cape of Good Hope, and standing on the southern most point in Africa, which I found really neat.
