My kids just couldn't get enough of the park and train playground here! Lovely square with lots of nice little cafes and bars though so I didn't really mind!

This former airfield is now a beautiful park clinging to the edge of the lake. There is even a beach right by it! We spent the day hiking around and enjoying a picnic in the sun and had a totally alternative but great day out in the "city"!

Portola Trail

I love city breaks but also hiking so I like to try and combine the two. I loved this 5 mile walk around the Elysian Park. We printed off directions from the internet <a href="http://www.hike-la.com/hike_elysian_park_portola_trail.html">here</a>. Enjoy!

Bayfront Park

There is no better place to stop for a rest in downtown than here...which you can tell by the office workers who flock here at lunchtime, and by the tramps who have made it their home. Avoid lunchtimes and you'll get to sit in the chairs on the beach and look at the beautiful sea.

Hyde Park

I live right next to London's Hyde Park so I couldn't miss the Sydney version! It's a beautiful park and the fig-lined walkways are just stunning. Lovely fountains, great place to just hang out for a while enoying life.
