Lake Eola Park

My husband and I come to Orlando when we can and stay in our friend's holiday home. Not a fan of the theme parks, I prefer something more natural, and this park is my current favourite. Lively and interesting during the day it becomes really mellow in the evening with colourful fountains and a really relaxed vibe.

This is the best park i've been to in the Benidorm area, we go every year and my kids adore it as do I. The dolphins steal the show without fail but the rest of the animals are pretty awesome too!

where, when, how, web
just a short drive from town, out to the north

My husband took me here for the day and it was stunning. The convent and chapel are the oldest buildings in Portugal which is incredible and then we spent a lovely afternoon on the beach there too. Defninitely worh escaping the city for a day and enjoy it out in the countryside.

where, when, how, web
Just under 60km south of Lisbon, good roads so it should only take about an hour, depending on time taken to leave the city

My boyfriend and I went here and had the place practically to ourselves. Lovely lush green park and some small but lovely beaches. Chatting to the lifeguards it can get rammed at weekends so sneak out in the week for the luxury of space and quiet all for free!

where, when, how, web
A short drive, follow route 11 north from jumeirah and then it's 4-5km after the creek, signposted

Parque Tropical

Our whole family went here for the day and we had sucha lovely time. We took a picnic and enjoyed it by the lake which was perfect (and cheap). The place is beautifully designed and executed and there are so many lovey birds around just flying freely. Don't forget to walk to the Mirador del Rio before you leave the car park either!

where, when, how, web
Guinate, north Lanzarote
