Tiergarten and Schloss Bellevue

My family and I had such a fun couple of hours here, the kids got to run about, kick a football with some locals and let off some steam, and I admired the presidential palace, sadly not from the inside though. Fabulous building, great park.

I really wanted to explore some of the area outside vegas and this was the best place we went, although not for the faint of heart it was pretty hot and there was little shade! amazing to see the rocks jutting out of the ground and the rock art is totally fascinating.

You can't go to Lanzarote and not visit the national park, based around the volcano. We joined an organised tour so we didn't get to see all that much but it was stunning nonetheless. Next time we're determined to hire a car and explore some more.

west of the island, there are loads of tours you can do

Bicentennial Park

My girlfriend and I hired bikes and took ourselves off for a day exploring this park, with our barbecue meat in tow as we'd been tipped off at the hostel that there were free barbecues about, and there are!! The mangroves were great and we saw loads of birds. A lovely day out.

Biscayne National Park

I got taken here by friends who I was visiting in Miami and I loved it. We spent our time by the mangrove forests which are amazing, as well as looking in the seagrass beds to see if we could see turtles and manatees but to no avail, i suspect we were too noisy! Would love to go back to the coral reef part and to see the tropical forest in the interior too.

At the south of the city, you'll probably need a car i'd have thought
