An extraordinary spot, you can stand in the HUGE ruins with mosaics and green marble columns and see another TINY christian basilica that's almost taken over by trees! The pillar where st paul was whipped is here too.

This church was opened in the 1839. The architect, Kearns Deane, provided his services free of charge, despite the fact that he was not a Catholic. This beautiful church has six fluted Ionic columns; they support a pediment upon which rests a statue of Our Lady by James Cahill of Dublin. The church is built of white lime stone. Inside sixteen fluted pillars line the nave and sanctuary. The 14th century statue on the altar, Our Lady of the Graces, is said to have miraculous properties. This church is very powerful where many people come here for prayers.
