The Esplenadi is really the centre of Helsinki in the summer months when the whole town empties out onto the grass to enjoy the concerts, cafes and food stalls here. The Esplenadi is made up of two areas of very well kept garden with a few nice little statues dotted around.

This is apparently one of the biggest urban parks in the world and at 543 acres is an oasis of calm away from the dirt and pollution of the city. There is a zoo and a lake that you can take a boat out on. The highlight though is the beautiful castle which is a great piece of Spanish colonial architecture, although the site dates back to an Aztec stronghold.

Olympos is a short hop from Antalya and is a lovely beach spot. You can stay in these quaint little tree houses - be careful of your posessions though there have been stories of theft. The walk down to the beach takes you past some ruins and little streams. The beach itself is beautiful and sheltered. There are some great bars and nightclubs in the village and the general vibe is quite deccadent.

This is a really beautiful beach and probably the most famous on the island. Its quite secluded and you have to get a boat there but despite this fact, it's generally packed. Great for sunbathing... not so great for swimming as the water gets really cold.

The Maidan is the largest area of parkland in Kolkata. It was initially designed as a military parade ground and there are still some old military vehicles scattered around. Its a nice place for a walk and a great place to come for people watching, with shepherds, washermen and sports teams all congregating here. It's also home to the world's largest golf club outside the UK!
