Obviously it's a hotel and the service, room and meals were top class. Riva is a wonderful place, especially for couples. We went in September and it was still warm (better than a British summer) Everywhere around Lake Garda is exeptionally clean and pristine and easily accessible via the ferry buses which run between the Lakeside towns throught the day at regular times. It is situated on the Lake Side only 1km outside the town centre - can't wait to go again.

Want a great meal, but strapped for cash? Viet Noodle Bar is probably as cheap as they come in London, great Vietnamese, Thai and Singarporean food for less than £6 for a main meal. It's no fuss dining in a very low key place. Order the traditional vietnamese cuisine, especially the aromatic Pho (Noodle soup served with a plate of chillis, herbs and fresh bean sprouts, to add at your leisure).

Ignore the bright lights and the fact you might get two forks, Lahore is the business for cheap, great tasting Pakistani food. The service is very laid back (if the place happens to be empty a waiter will just shout out "sit any where you like"), but the waiters will recommend their favourite dishes if you ask. For about £12 ahead, including drinks, you're guaranteed to be stuffed by the end of the meal. Open from midday until midnight, order the Onion Bahjis & Chicken Korahi, you won't be disappointed.

Known as the "cappuccino belt", Lygon Street is unbeatable for Italian Cuisine: it's Melbourne's own Little Italy. If you happen to be in the neighbourhood on October 27th - 28th this year, do check out the Lygon Street Festival, Crowd favourites include the waiters' race, the pizza throwing competition, bocce (bowls), fencing and balloom dancing Italian-style. Not to mention the great live acts, stalls selling everything from glow-in-the-dark trinkets to piping hot fresh food to snack on.

China Bar is part of a chain in Victoria, but don't let that put you off! The chinese food they serve is fresh and prepared in front of you, noodle dishes are their speciality. Usually filled with university students(don't let that put you off! It adds to the vibe), it's open from 11am - 3am Sun-Thur and 11am - 6am Friday and Saturday nights, it's great food, especially after a hard nights clubbing. (Beats a dirty kebab any day).
