Ephesus

It was quite a long drive but definitely worth it. Ephesus is simply the best archaeological site in the world and it's astonishingly well preserved.

Htysopolitissa Basilica

An extraordinary spot, you can stand in the HUGE ruins with mosaics and green marble columns and see another TINY christian basilica that's almost taken over by trees! The pillar where st paul was whipped is here too.

What a fascinating place! It almost looks like somewhere that the Roman buildings came to die, but with the help of my friend the history buff he brought the whole thing to light and I really enjoyed it. Thanks Sam!!

The museum and ruins are totally fascinating! I somehow had never thought that Turkey was so central to all the great dynasties but it was!! So much to see and learn!

What a cool place! A huge complex great for a thorough wander plus interested ogling of the ruins. What a majestic spot this must have been at the height of the Roman Empire!
