For me, El Cotillo is the best of both worlds! Wonderful beaches are paired with a small harbour where local fishermen land their catches with bars and restuarants aplenty. If you go, be sure also to walk up the tower, or even to the lighthouse.

A radio tower isn't the most glamorous building you could hope to visit but the views from nearly 100m up are pretty spectacular. You can see as far as the countryside around the city and there are even floor markings to tell you what to look for (a little hard to read).

(aka Forty Columns) This was the kids' holiday highlight! The ruined castle is a great place to play on and with dungeons and a tower still there you can get a great idea of the place, or alternatively use them for a great game of hide and seek!

The lap of luxury, the views are stunning and you gently revolve in the restaurant so you can see it all whilst you enjoy your tipple.

Looking suspiciously like a red Eiffel Tower (in fact they put a spike on top to make it taller than its cousin) the views from here are pretty ace. And whilst you're there you can also hit the Wax Museum and the Optical Illusion place, which are fun.
