Kuala Lumpur is a busy city and whenever I head over for business and have some free time I make a beeline for the Lake Gardens. A wonderful lush green belt, there are so many different areas to enjoy. Personal top spots are the deer park and the orchid garden.

Evidence of the Dutch colonies is on full show here with plenty of artefacts from around the tropics. The collection is so varied and interesting, this really is one of the unsung heroes of the city.

Me, my husband and our kids had a total blast at this museum. More than a science museum, there's great transport stuff which pleased my son and the hands-on experiments were a hit with all of us! I loved the Strasburg Clock Model, I can't believe all the detail was done just from a pamphlet!

I am frequently in Washington on business and I always try to visit one of the smithsonian museums, they don't take up too much time and are free entry, so you can leave whenever you have to anyway without feeling bad. Current top favourite is the Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, although the Sackler Gallery is a close second.

Well I could just sit here for hours, once i've got a seat and just wait for the next act, and the next and the next. There's all sorts of shows that keep coming along with acrobats, trapeze, jugglers and tightrope walkers to name a few I saw. Great for taking kids to as well.
