Williamson Tunnels Heritage Centre

This is perhaps one of the least appreciated tourist locations in Liverpool, but it is definitely interesting and not something that everyone would put at the top of their list. I found it to be fascinating, as it is a look at the rather eccentric, underground world created by Joseph Williamson in the early 19th century. A philanthropist, Williamson built this winding and mysterious underground enclave in the 1820s and 1830s. Research and excavation are ongoing as historians try to understand what motivated this man to build such an underground labyrinth. Definitely do see it!
