Fantastic and diverse place with so much to interest a thinking tourist. There are furnished rooms, fur trade exhibits plus art and science are given a large nod too.

Gastown Steam Clock

Yes, there were things I spent longer at on my holiday in Vancouver, but this was the most surprising and intriguing, and I genuinely enjoyed learning about it. Powered by steam that also heats local buildings it lets off impressive steam puffs!

Vancouver Art Gallery

A fantastic gallery showcasing some of Vancouvers internationally renowed artists. There are over 10,000 holdings to look at and entrance is less than $20.

Burnaby Village

On our last trip to Vancouver we went here and it went down really well with the children. It's essentially a 1920s village with people in period dress and it's really fun to interact with the villagers and imagine living in that time. The tram and the old carousel were particular favourites.

Out to the east of the city, off Canada way, the address is 6501 Deer Lake Avenue, or there are a couple of buses I think go there
