Venice Academy

A great art gallery. The Venice Academy has a really complete collection of Venetian renaissance works. I especially enjoyed seeing the Tintoretto paintings.

Jewish Ghetto

Well worth an explore, the Jewish Ghetto feels like it hasn't changed in hundreds of years. Its worth bearing in mind that residents are extremely pious and visitors should dress and act with modesty

Venice walking tour with ST Mark's

posted by triplecrown on 21 May 2009 at 16:12

I am a huge fan of walking tours. You find out so much information and get a normal person's view of the area. This is no exception. The tour is a couple hours and you see most of the major landmarks - like St Mark's Basilica. They take you down some impossibly narrow streets - and you see how it really is. I loved seeing all the bridges crossing the canal and hearing the city's rich history. Not waiting in lines for these places is a huge plus.
