Miami offers a fantastically lively Latin culture because half its population is Hispanic, this is reflected in the city's music, food, language and mood. Miami is also famous for its art deco architecture with a sizeable district of Miami Beach being recognised as an area of historical significance because of its buildings. Add to this the beach itself where beautiful people soak up the sun.
Whatever you fancy doing dealchecker.co.uk can help you get a great deal on a flight. Miami is an exciting city with a lively culture but there's no need to break the bank to get there. To make life simpler you may want to consider checking out holidays in Miami and let someone else do the hard work.
Miami lies on Florida's Atlantic coast and it's about an eight-hour flight from UK. If you are flying from London you can fly direct with both British and American carriers although it's generally cheaper to go indirect. Airlines offer daily flights, making Miami a great place to escape for a couple of days to get some sun and beach time (we'd go for South Beach) and its fantastic nightlife means you can party til late too. Alternatively, Miami is growing in popularity for those travelling from the UK looking to depart on a Caribbean cruise.
There is a host of destinations that are accessible via a cheap flight to Miami - the Florida Keys stretching out into the Caribbean, Naples on the Gulf coast, Orlando's theme parks, plus the remarkable natural wonders of the Everglades. By booking cheap Miami car hire you should have no trouble visiting many of these beautiful regions on a week-long holiday.
Miami International Airport is the main arrival point for most tourists. You can also fly into Miami via Fort Lauderdale Airport, about 40 minutes outside Miami centre. Fort Lauderdale Airport tends to handle the cheaper carriers, so look for flights here to get a bargain. Over 20 airports across the UK offer flights to Miami and being flexible on travel dates will give you the best chance of grabbing a deal to get your holiday off to a great start.
Hiring a car or jumping in a taxi are by far the easiest ways of getting into Miami. If you're arriving at Fort Lauderdale would be best to transfer first to Miami International Airport for the onward journey. It's a quick and easy train journey and saves on a longer and more expensive journey into Miami. However even from Miami International Airport you might find some areas of the city are still difficult to get to via public transport.
The bus system once you reach the city is fairly comprehensive and a great way of travelling cheaply, although the traffic can hold up the buses at peak times. The MetroRail, a single-track railway, is also a good cheap way of getting around, although the line is quite limited. The free MetroMover, a simple monorail, is the best way of getting around downtown. For most holidaymakers, hiring a car is the most convenient option; the roads in Miami are easy and parking is ample, although native drivers do tend to be quite aggressive! Taxis are pretty expensive and can only use designated pick-up and drop-off points.
Train travel to New York City and Washington DC is possible but not advisable as journey times can top 24 hours. For public transport options on intercity travel, long-distance coach travel like the iconic Greyhound is the best option, but hiring a car in Miami and making your own way is the easiest way to do things, as is the American way!
Miami enjoys long hot summers and short mild winters. The height of the summer can be very hot - the heat reaches up to 30°C for months at a time. Miami is also rather humid with a wet season which runs from May to October. Rain falls predominantly in afternoon thunderstorms which are a welcome relief in the heat. Rainfall is significantly lower the rest of the time and temperatures of about 24°C are typical.
December to April are the busiest months for Miami, as tourists flock in from across the USA as well as from overseas. Conversely June to September are the quietest times when you're most likely to find a big reduction on a Miami holiday. Although you shouldn't expect to find Miami all to yourself, it's a popular destination all year round. To take advantage of reasonable good weather and slightly cheaper prices then May and October to November are great times to go.
US$. Currency exchange can vary across the city so shop around, although the airport is the worst place to choose. Using an ATM will give you a good rate but be aware of any charges your bank may add.
English is spoken throughout, but about half of the population speaks another language at home, with the most prevalent being Spanish and French Creole.

UK travellers will need their valid passport to enter the USA and will need to fill in a visa waiver form (these are usually handed out on the flight over). You also need to apply for an ESTA, an electronic travel authorisation, at least 72 hours before travel.
