With a population of more than two million, Patna is a large city, and the second largest in eastern India. Founded in 490 BCE, it's a city with ancient roots, and its foundation lies on the south bank of the River Ganges. Formerly known as Pataliputra, it has been home to many prominent astrologists and scholars. This cultural heritage presents itself in many of the city's landmarks. Among the many attractions here is the Patna Planetarium, one of the biggest in Asia.
