The Kashmir region of India has some of the most spectacular scenery to be found on the sub-continent. Look out for cheap flights to Srinagar, the capital of the Jammu and Kashmir state, which is situated on the banks of the Jehlum River in the Kashmir valley to see the beauty for yourself.
You can book cheap Srinagar flights whilst booking flights to India from any of the major UK airports and to get the best prices it's best to look for separate internal flights to Srinagar. There are regular, cheap Srinagar flights from the international airports in Delhi or Mumbai and the onward flight is approximately two hours from there. There are seven airlines operating flights to Srinagar from across India, so finding connecting flights to fit in with your holiday itinerary will be easy.
On arrival in Srinagar you will need to find somewhere comfortable to stay and you will easily find hotels in Srinagar at price points to suit your budget. Why not try something different and stay in a houseboat moored on Dal Lake or Nagin Lake. Mid-range hotels can be found in Srinagar itself if staying on a houseboat does not appeal to you. Having found a base to work from, you can explore the surrounding area by bus or taxi. If you feel adventurous, there are the auto-rickshaws that are common in the area or you can rent a motor cycle unless you have already found a cheap Srinagar car hire deal.
Be sure to take a trip on one of the lakes. Lake Dal is reputed to be the most beautiful whilst Lake Nagin has facilities for swimming and related sports. Take a walk to the oldest shrine in the Kashmir valley, the Shankaracharya Temple on Takht-e-Suleiman Hill. If you want your nature slightly more organised then the Shalimar Gardens and the Mughal Gardens and its palatial surrounds may be more for you. In winter you can even go skiing in nearby Gulmarg!
