Quiet, picturesque and unspoilt, Achladies is a hidden gem on the Sporades island of Skiathos. With a local population of just over 100 people, visitors can be assured of plenty of peace and quiet! Its picturesque beach, sprinkling of tavernas and restaurants and smattering of hotels offer a simple and relaxing Greek Island escape. Achliades has everything you'll need - including two supermarkets, and plenty of places to eat and drink - but Skiathos Island also offers a little extra if you find yourself growing restless. Skiathos town has the island's best nightclub scene, while it's an easy drive to the ruins of the former capital, Kastro. Of course, there's nothing wrong with staying in Achladies for the entirety of your holiday - it retains the fishing village charms of yesteryear, and it's not hard to find a quiet spot on its petite sandy beach.

Top Things to do in Achladies
We're not going to lie to you - there's not a great deal to do in Achladies. You won't find hordes of tourists here scavenging through high street stores and taking up every square inch of the beach. Rather, this is a resort that's devoted to peace, quiet and relaxation. Its small number of hotels means you won't be battling it out for a tiny square of sand or a table for dinner. Your hotel will likely be within walking distance of the beach, and after meals it'll be easy to find your way back to your room.
While away the days on one of the bay's sunbeds, before retreating to one of the nearby tavernas for an afternoon drink. If that doesn't float your boat, head a few kilometres down the road to the island's main town, Skiathos. It's known as a party resort, so you can get your kicks here in the evening, then retreat back to Achladies during the day! Scuba diving is also a popular past time on the island, as is hiking around its scenic pine forests. Many visitors also enjoy checking out the filming locations of Mamma Mia on guided tours.
When to go to Achladies
Primarily a warm weather destination, Achladies' holiday season runs from May to November. Visitors from mainland Greece often flock to the resort in July and August, pushing prices up to match the temperature, which often reaches 30°C. Visit in late spring and early autumn for fewer crowds, somewhat lower prices and still-pleasant weather.
