Saving Money in Siena

With no international airport in Siena that runs services to and from the UK, your best bet is to get a flight to Florence with either KLM or Air France from London City. The flights themselves are relatively cheap, but make sure you book them well ahead of time to get the best rates. Florence is about 70 kilometres north of Siena, so if you decide to rent a car to get to your destination from the airport, then you should also book well in advance, to avoid paying over the odds.

Top Attractions in Siena

If you book your hotel in Siena in early July or mid-August, then you should definitely take in the Palio Horse Race, the biggest town event of the entire year. On July 2nd and August 16th, the town's main square, the Piazza del Campo, becomes a race track where riders from different Sienese districts compete for their people's honour. The Palazzo Pubblico (Siena's city hall) is also worth a visit, filled with stunning frescoes and with breathtaking views of the local countryside from the top of its high bell tower.
