Quick Guide to The Cayos

Stand by the shore, take a moment to look down at your feet through crystal-clear turquoise waters and you'll know you're on one of the best beaches in the world. The Cayos are Cuba's own little slices of paradise. Nestled away in the country's north side, and forming the Jardines del Rey or King's Gardens archipelago, the islands are charming beach resorts excellent for a sunny long-haul escape!

There are plenty of great places to stay along the cayos and eateries offer some top-rated Cuban cuisine on the resort areas near the beaches, so you'll be sure to have dinner with a view! Once your hunger pangs have been satisfied, grab your snorkels and dip your way through the coral reefs, or just enjoy a lazy beach day along the pristine, golden sands. One thing's for sure, once you're there you'll never want to leave!

What To Do In The Cayos

Every beach in the Cayos is as picturesque as the last. Cayo Coco alone has over 22km of shoreline capped with white sands, so there's plenty of exploring to do! The best way to see the coast is with catamaran tours - kick back on deck with martinis, and you'll be dropped off to all the best beach spots!

If you fancy getting up from the sun lounger, get your dancing shoes on for a night out at La Cueva Del Jabali nightclub. Set within a cave, this unique space comes decked out with a bar and light systems. With DJs and live acts specialising in Cuban-fusion music and direct bus links from resorts to the nightclub, you have no excuse to miss it!

When To Go To The Cayos

It's best to avoid May to October, as this is both the rainy season in Cuba and hurricane season throughout the Caribbean. Prices rise during the Christmas, Easter and summer school holiday periods so for cheaper deals it's best to look at flights and accommodation options outside of this time! Visiting during January and February is often a good choice as they are sunny with cooler temperatures and outside of regular peak tourist seasons.
