dealchecker's guide to Chessington

  • Hotels during school holidays can be expensive, so consider staying a few miles away for lower rates
  • Visit during spring or autumn for cheap hotel deals

Chessington sits close to Kingston-upon-Thames on the outer edges of London. With local attractions including Chessington World of Adventures, Hampton Court Palace and Epsom Race Course, there's much to see and do for all the family. There are plenty of walking areas, shops and restaurants, and if you fancy heading into London for the day, Chessington has a rail link which operates regular trains into Waterloo. With golf courses, Richmond Park and its free-roaming deer, and River Thames walks nearby, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to ways to enjoy the region.

Where to Stay in Chessington

If you decide to stay in Chessington itself, there are four-star hotels with indoor pools, gardens and on-site dining. These comfortable hotels offer superb access to Chessington World of Adventures, and are close to the rail station so you can whizz in and out of London if you fancy a spot of shopping or sightseeing.

If your aim is to spend time with the kids at Chessington World of Adventures, there are seasonal resorts and hotels on-site, making it easy to experience safaris, zoos, aquariums, cafes and restaurants all day long. Book rooms well in advance for summer holidays, and search and compare cheap hotels for 2018 on dealchecker.

For easy access to Richmond Park, Wimbledon and Hampton Court Palace, you could stay in Kingston-upon-Thames or around Heathrow Airport. There are chain hotels offering comfortable accommodation, and they provide regular transport links into central London.

How to get a Great Deal on Chessington Hotels

Chessington hotels are busiest around Easter, bank holidays and summer holidays. The theme park is open and families travel from all over the UK to experience thrilling days out. Rather than stay in the town itself during these times, save money by moving a few miles out to Sutton, Dorking or Epsom.

Spring, autumn and winter months are great times to visit. You have regular trains into London, parts of the theme park are open to welcome families, and you can always take an amble through historic Hampton Court Palace. Hotel room rates are cheap and you could snag a bargain off-season.

You may decide to combine your stay with a city break in London. If so, there are budget hotels and chic boutique hotels around Waterloo which can be accessed by train from Chessington.
