dealchecker's guide to Grenoble

The city of Grenoble lies in the French Alps and is famous for its breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, as well as its fascinating culture and lively ambience. People on a budget often book cheap flights to Grenoble as this is the ideal spot for a budget friendly holiday in the Alps.

Choosing a Grenoble hotel

There is plenty of choice when it comes to selecting a hotel in Grenoble as there are an abundance of both expensive and cheap Grenoble hotels. There are quite a few chain hotels here, as well as a small amount of boutique hotels, so it all depends on what you are looking for. The cheap Grenoble hotels may not have luxurious facilities, but they are still of a high standard and so would suit a budget traveller quite well. Alternatively look outside the city to the mountain resorts of the Alps. Destinations such as Les Deux Alpes offer holidays year round.

When to visit Grenoble

The weather in Grenoble is particularly cold in the winter months and snow is very common - with heavy snowfall in the Alps this is a great spot for a day or two skiing. However the weather does warm up during the rest of the year and the summers here can be fairly warm. March is a great time to visit, as the Jazz festival is held during this month and both local and international jazz musicians perform all over the city. The Piano festival in the month of December also draws many tourists and features many famous musicians.
