Usually, the combination of the words ‘rodent’ and ‘hotel’ would be enough to make potential guests run a mile…but in this establishment, our little furry friends are not only accepted, they are downright celebrated. Welcome to La Villa Hamster, the hotel that gives people the opportunity to live like their pet. The French gite has been designed to mimic the inside of a hamsters cage and comes complete with fur costumes and even a hamster wheel, which you can see in all its glory in the picture below. Guests are able to take a turn in the wheel should they so desire. Zut alors!

The hotel boasts such authentically hamster-esque facilities like containers of organic grain, a water tube that guests can drink from, and a double bed accessible only by a step ladder and an all-fours scramble.  The owners insist that the gite, whilst eccentric, still provides highly comfortable accommodation once the novelty of drinking from a tube has passed.

The visionaries who created this, erm, masterpiece, will next be concentrating their efforts on their next venture; a hotel that will take guests “back to their origins.” Yes, the hotel will be a  recreated womb, with “lots of light and sound to make you feel as though you are in a uterus.” A hamster hotel suddenly seems like a stay at a particularly basic Holiday Inn.
