We’re all in a tizzy about city breaks thanks to the new city breaks section of our site! So in honour of the whole new section we’ve asked around the office and have plenty of personal recommendations for top city break destinations.
Alice, who you know as our Editor, loves Amsterdam. She’s a fan of cycling and loves all those flat canal-side rides you can go on. She’s also a kid at heart and raves about the interactive fun at NEMO science centre as well as the views you get from the rooftop!

Adeola, in our accounts department loved Venice but she said it was Zurich in Switzerland that really shone. Her party all jumped into the lake on a hot summers’ day and it was love at first dip!
Yvonne, also in accounts, shopped ’til she dropped on her last city break in New York and has dreams of going back there – once her bank balance has recovered!

There’s a bit of an Eastern Europe theme with the boys! Joe in marketing really has his eye on Krakow and George, the sales manager, can’t get enough of Prague. He’s been before but has plans to go back and see more. Definitely nothing to do with the notoriously bargain prices on alcohol then?

Sam one of our deal finders loved the exotic city break she had in Marrakech! She found the souks a little confusing at first but so full of amazing things it’s ok to get lost and have a wander!
Anna, our marketing manager, loved Madrid – primarily because of all the delicious food! I can’t get any sights out of her, just one great dish after another! She also has plans to go to New York and wander around Central Park.

It seems Spain is top of the foodie list, as Andy, our new technical manager, raves about the food in San Sebastian on Spain’s north coast. He says there are eight Michelin-starred restaurants in an area the size of Clapham! Mmmmm, this is making me hungry!
And it seems there’s always one who likes to be a little different…our other Sam says he has dreams of going to Skegness, but we’re not sure we believe him!

Mark our manager has Barcelona topping his city breaks list – the Sagrada Familia, all the Gaudi attractions, fantastic nightlife and a beach right there too if you fancy a chill out. But for a UK break he loves Bath. He likes to catch a bit of rugby, enjoy a few pints and stroll around the historical spots.
Mark’s also got a top tip for off-the-beaten track: Ljubljana. He loves it in this beautiful, tiny and underrated spot.
Zoe, our newest marketing recruit loves the romantic city of Bruges. Nicknamed “The Venice of the North”, she loved the canals, boats, the food, the beer and the quaint little streets packed with lovely little shops. I’ve heard the chocolate’s not bad either! And as a bit of a plug for her home nation, she also can’t get enough of Marseille and its old port, great food and the Calanques coastline.

As for me, Paris has always been a particular favourite as there are stunning spots to walk and delicious dishes no matter which direction you strike out in. And I’ve got big plans to visit both Lisbon and Belfast.
