There were a range of travel destinations that became immensely popular amongst holidaymakers in 2022 and are definitely worth visiting. Whether you prefer city breaks or luxury getaways, one of these holiday spots is certain to appeal to you!

Dominican Republic, Caribbean

The Dominican Republic was the most visited country in the world in 2022 for tourism, which might have something to do with its turquoise waters and picturesque scenery. This country can be visited all year round due to its balmy climate which typically ranges from 25˚C to 27˚C in the winter months, and reaches highs of 40˚C in the summer season. Its warm weather and luxurious feel makes this island incredibly popular amongst holidaymakers seeking a relaxing and beachy holiday!

Cancun, Mexico

First discovered in 1970, Cancun is an incredibly popular area of Mexico due to its opulent atmosphere and vibrant nightlife. This city is particularly famous for being a hotspot for young Americans during spring break, due to the lower legal drinking age of  18. Due to this, Cancun has become an impressive city packed with tourist appeal and a range of luxe drinking and dining venues. It’s not short of high end resorts either, which has helped to make this location appealing to those in search of a laid-back all inclusive experience.

Crete, Greece

Crete is perhaps the most popular Greek island, with a vast number of tourists flocking there each year to soak up the sunshine and explore the blissful beaches. Despite belonging to Spain, Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and is packed with stunning scenery and impressive bars and restaurants. Tenerife is also home to Siam Park, the world-famous water park that features the globe’s largest artificial waves, and a variety of gorgeous sandy beaches. Tenerife is located on the coast of North Africa which means that this island is warm throughout the year, and pleasingly affordable.

Bali, Indonesia 

Bali is one of the most famous destinations in Southeast Asia, and is well known for its jungly landscape. It’s also known as the ‘Land of the Gods’ due to its immense natural beauty and serene atmosphere. This area of Indonesia is packed with history and culture which makes it a great place to spend a few weeks travelling. It’s also incredibly cheap, so you don’t have to spend a lot to enjoy a little luxury.

Rome was the most visited city in Italy in 2022, partly due to its range of tourist attractions and historic appeal.
