New Year’s Eve provides something of a conundrum: who do you want to spend it with and how do you want to spend it? We find that getting away with your most loved ones is an excellent way to say goodbye to the old year and wave in the new one. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite stays for the transition from 2023 to 2024.
The Hoxton, Shoreditch – London
Great for: Couples
Sleeps: Two
Cost: £364 for a cosy double
The Hoxton hotel is something of a stalwart on the Shoreditch nightlife scene, it’s one of the spots where you can get a reliably great drinks in chic buzzy surrounds. Upstairs, rooms are cosy yet comfy with deep colours and sumptuous beds. It’s a great base for those wanting somewhere smart to stay in the heart of all the action.
After All – Somerset

For those who want to kick their new year off with good intentions—think a long walk followed by a pint in a local pub with friends—a countryside stay will be just what you’re looking for. This home in Somerset is set amidst 10 acres of grounds, replete with onsite spa, swimming pool and hot tub. You’ll have the secluded feel of a cottage stay, but with all the amenities of a hotel getaway.
Alton Towers Hotel – Staffordshire
Great for: Families
Sleeps: Four
Cost: £600
A stay at Alton Towers will give you hero status with your little ones for a long, long time. Not only will you have access to all of the rides but you’ll be staying onsite, in a hotel with themed rooms and live evening entertainment.
This stay classes as a festive break event which means that you’ll enjoy tickets to the pantomime and one session at the waterpark too!
a&o – Edinburgh
Great for: Friends/couples
Sleeps: Two
Cost: £202 for a private twin room
In the UK, New Year’s Eve is arguably best celebrated in Edinburgh, where the four-day event is referred to as Hogmanay. The whole city gets involved and there are street parties, silent discos, ceilidhs and mass karaoke to take part in.
This overnight stay is one of the most affordable options that we found, and sees you staying in the a&o hostel, but in a private room. The hostel itself has its own bar, which makes for a great base for before you head out for the festivities.
Blackberry Cabin – Cornwall
Great for: Back-to-nature stays
Sleeps: Four
Price: £283
If you’re looking for a New Year’s stay that gets you back to nature, look no further than this quirky cabin. Located on a working farm, you’ll enjoy lush green views and your neighbours will be the chickens that have free rein of the site. The golden sands and turquoise waters of East Looe Beach are just a short drive away, and we think that there’s nothing better than a beach walk to see in the new year.
