A bold, pirate-themed bar and restaurant will dock in Covent Garden this month, and will bring with it a treasure trove of delicious rum cocktails that will certainly pack a punch. The company behind the brand is actually Scottish (there are two outposts up in there already), so expect some Caledonian classics like tattie scones to feature on its American themed menu. Forget understated – there promises to be loud tatto-inspired decor, lots of neon and a potentially raucous crowd…

Over in Wapping in East London, a sustainable fish and chip shop, seafood restaurant and fishmongers is the catch of 2022. Off the Hook is super transparent about where all its fish is sourced, so you can enjoy your posh chippy tea almost guilt-free. Even the cocktail are infused with seaside elements – we can’t wait to try the one that is made from Cornish Squid Ink Gin and is served in an oyster shell.

Tatale

The Africa Centre in London will welcome Tatale in 2022 – a contemporary Pan-African eatery inspired by the Chop Bars of West Africa. Expect vibrant salads, stacked chicken burgers, jollof couscous and tropical fruit desserts.

Nightjar II

This sultry Old Street cocktail bar located behind an unassuming brown door is know for its flamboyant concoctions and atmospheric live music. This year, it’s rumoured that another outpost will be opening around Carnaby in Soho, so you can nip in after a day of shopping!

Raffles

We will have to wait until the end of the year for this one, but London’s first Raffles hotel will open in the Old War Office in Whitehall. The stunning structure will house 11 bars and restaurants, so even if you can’t stretch to a stay, you can at least enjoy a martini or two – after all, most of the recent James Bond releases have been filmed in this very building.

One Hundred Shoreditch

The Ace Hotel on Shoreditch High Street will be revamped and replaced by the new One Hundred Shoreditch hotel this year. This prime spot will offer a cool selection of bars and eateries, including an all-day British seafood restaurant, a basement speakeasy called the Seed Library, and a rooftop bar for those all-important sunset tipples.

The well-loved Borough Market is about to get a new neighbour. Victorian railway arches and warehouses will become modern retail and hospitality spaces at the trendy Borough Yards. A Paul Smith shop and an Everyman Cinema have already opened in the hub, while brands including Aesop, Padella, Neal’s Yard Dairy and The Breakfast Club are all due to open by spring, when the development will be fully launched.
