The ice rink at Somerset House opens on the 15th November, and is back to provide London’s most romantic al fresco skate. This year, it’s opening in partnership with Switzerland Tourism and you can snuggle up with a meal at Chalet Suisse following your allotted time period, or grab a tipple at the Whispering Angel bar. While it’s a heavily sponsored event, it still manages to be pretty magical. The surrounds are gorgeous, in Somerset House’s central courtyard, and it’s all overlooked by a twinkling 40-foot Christmas tree. So, grab your loved one and get ready to skate hand-in-hand this festive season!

Eat At:
44 Old Compton St, London W1D 4TY
This is the pizzeria that was made famous by the book and then film: Eat, Pray, Love. Having eaten at the Soho branch of this restaurant, we can so see why Elizabeth Gilbert loved eating these pizzas so much. The pizzas are rich, comforting and absolutely vast. On a recent visit, we shared two between three of us and that was far too much food. The pizzas range from £10 to £27 (and that’s by far the most expensive option), which when shared makes this an incredibly cost effective spot for dinner in central London.

Drink In:
198 Shaftesbury Ave, London WC2H 8JL
Finding moody little drinking spots in Covent Garden is something of a challenge, instead, it’s all glaring lights and Instagram-friendly interiors. However, on the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue, you’ll find one such spot in Freud Bar. Open since 1986, they really know what they’re doing and what they do is serve up classic cocktails in pared-back basement surrounds. On Fridays and Saturdays, they’re open until 3am, so it’s a great spot if you want just “one more drink” after dinner or a date.
