Head to:

St Paul’s Cathedral – 11th November

St. Paul’s Churchyard, London EC4M 8AD

Entry: Free

St Paul’s Cathedral is one of London’s most iconic buildings, with a history that seems to reflect that of the city itself. However, it’s so synonymous with the city, that often us Londoners often forget that we can (and should) head inside. Usually, there’s a fee to enter but each year, in conjunction with the Lord Mayor’s Show, the doors are flung open to the public for free.

It, unsurprisingly, gets very, very busy so we recommend heading there for when the doors open at 8:30am. This gets you access to the Cathedral floor, while there is still a £10 fee to access the Dome Galleries.

Eat At:

Bancone

39 William IV St, London WC2N 4DD

Eating out in London has become exceedingly expensive, with pizzas at chain restaurants even coming in at over £16, which we think is frankly a travesty. Luckily, spots like Bancone are here to give us delicious food in lovely surrounds without breaking the bank. This is a restaurant that’s all about pasta, and we think it rivals even that of the much-loved Padella. We highly recommend opting for the silk handkerchiefs with walnut butter and egg confit—it’s comforting, tasty and costs £11. It’s the sort of spot where you can take your mum, best mate, or even, a date.

Drink In:

The French House

49 Dean St, London W1D 5BG

Soho is an area that is constantly shifting, bars open and close with the seasons, and as such, it’s tricky to find drinking holes with a sense of history. The French House is one such spot—it has been open for over 100 years (originally opening in 1891), and has seen everyone from Charles de Gaulle to Dylan Thomas drink here. It’s an old school affair with no music and yet, the atmosphere is buzzing, with the chatter of guests being somewhat of a din. Food is served upstairs, and receives rave reviews, and yet we’re usually loathe to leave the atmosphere of downstairs to make the journey there.
